Baptism is a “public
witness” to a changed lifestyle by ceremony of symbolic washing (immersion) when one accepts Christ as Savior. For new
covenant people, the first mention of baptism in the New Testament is by John the Baptist (Mark 1:1-5). However,
the instructional mandate of water baptism was given by Christ to his disciples:
“Then Jesus came and
spoke to them saying, ‘All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of
all the nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit’.” – Matthew
28:18-19 NKJV
At Kendall Community Church of
God, baptism is also a witness or symbol of the new covenant
believer’s/Christian’s salvation.
A
mandatory meeting, prior to your baptism, with the Senior Pastor for further instructions concerning your baptism should be scheduled.
